Putnam girls’ soccer preps for postseason

The Putnam County girls’ soccer season continues Thursday evening in the first round of Class AA state playoffs.The Lady War Eagles are the top seed from Region 4 and will face Jeff Davis, the No. 4 seed from Region 1.

Gators' winning streak comes to an end

Gatewood introduces new girls’ basketball coach

Gatewood recently announced its new girls’ head basketball coach in the promotion of assistant coach Ferdinand Farley Jr.Farley replaces Jordan Walters, who recently stepped down after serving as head coach for the past six seasons.

Gators ground Eagles – twice

The Gatewood Gators extended their current winning streak to 10 games with a pair of non-region road wins last week over Rock Springs Christian (11-5, 3-0) in Milner and Stratford Academy (10-9, 0-4) in Macon. Gatewood (11-2, 5-0) benefitted from two strong innings from its pitching staff.

Daniel invited to high-profile football camps

Putnam County running back and linebacker Rashod Daniel has received high praise for his skills on the gridiron.Daniel was invited to the Under Armour Atlanta football camp in February and competed against some of the best prospects in the nation. Daniel will also attend a Rivals.

One of my pastimes is reminiscing, which seems to be gathering steam as I count my birthdays.The time for reflection most often comes about at the start of baseball season. It causes me to flashback to my days on the farm when there was no television, only scratchy static on an old Philco radio.

Storylines to follow for Georgia’s G-Day scrimmage

Georgia wrapped up spring practices this week ahead of Saturday’s annual G-Day scrimmage at Sanford Stadium. The Bulldogs will split up into two teams – Red and Black – for their final scrimmage of the spring.
