Lady War Eagles soccer finding its footing

After a rough 0-3 start to the season, the Putnam County girls’ soccer team has been on a roll as of late. The Lady War Eagles have won six of their last seven, including five straight heading into this week.

War Eagles rout Josey on diamond

The bats came alive for Putnam County last week in an easy rout of region opponent Josey High.The War Eagles got a solid performance on March 8 from Tanner Lukens at the plate. The junior went 3-for-4 with a team-high three hits, two RBIs, and a pair of runs scored in an 11-1 win.

Gators get first shutout of season over Westfield

Gatewood bounced back with a 10-0 win last Thursday in Perry, where they faced the Westfield Hornets in their second meeting of the season.The Gators started strong with a pair of one-out base hits from Hunter and Ames Johnson.

Eatonton angler wins ABA Pro League on Lake Oconee

John “Brad” Stalnaker won the 2024 American Bass Anglers Professional League, presented by Caymas Boats, Georgia Division 8 tournament, held March 9 on Lake Oconee.Running out of Spring Creek Marina in Buckhead, the Eatonton-based angler caught five bass weighing 18.51 pounds.

Putnam County baseball looking for answers

Putnam County’s baseball team has had a rough start to the season, entering this week at 2-8 overall. A majority of the War Eagles’ mistakes have been self-inflicted, according to head coach Mike Phiel. He knows his team is talented but hopes his players can learn from their miscues.

Gators win season opener, 8-2, over Westfield

The Gatewood Gators baseball team opened its 2024 season last Tuesday with an 8-2 win over the visiting Westfield Hornets. The Hornets had a 2-1 record heading into the matchup in Eatonton, while the Gators were playing their first game of the regular season.
