Dawgs make statement with rout of FSU

Georgia made a huge statement in its 63-3 rout of Florida State this past Saturday in the Orange Bowl. Both teams were left out of the College Football Playoff, but the No. 6 Bulldogs showed why they should have made it after losing Dec. 2 to No. 4 Alabama in the SEC Championship game.

Lady War Eagles head into holidays on positive note

Putnam County girls’ basketball is off to one of the best starts in recent memory. The Lady War Eagles are 10-2 overall and riding a four-game winning streak heading into the final week of the year. Butler snapped Putnam County’s five-game winning streak on Dec. 15 with a decisive 57-40 win.

War Eagles learn tough lesson in loss to Bulldogs

Putnam County boys’ basketball learned a critical lesson last Friday in a road loss to Hancock Central. The War Eagles missed a pair of free throws and committed a lane violation late in the game, setting up the rival Bulldogs to make a desperate attempt from half-court to win the contest, 66-64.

Putnam County Middle school girls' basketball win 3rd-straight title

The rich history for Putnam County girls’ basketball continued on Dec. 14, as head coach Sha’Kedra Ellison and her Putnam County Middle School (PCMS) squad captured an unprecedented third-straight Middle School Championship with a 16-0 record.

Several War Eagles earn All-Region football honors

The Putnam County football team recently had several players earn All-Region 4-AA honors. The War Eagles had 13 players earn All-Region honors, with five receiving honorable mentions. Putnam County head coach Joel Harvin said he was proud of each player who earned the recognition.

War Eagles drop first game, win next two

The Putnam County boys’ basketball team lost its first game of the season this past Friday, losing to Butler in Augusta. The Bulldogs mounted a strong second-half effort to defeat the War Eagles, 76-61.

Lady War Eagles’ five-game win streak snapped

Putnam County’s five-game winning streak was snapped this Friday against No. 3 Butler in Augusta. Junior Brayla Harris led the charge with 24 points for the Lady Bulldogs, who downed the Lady War Eagles, 57-40. Harris also grabbed nine rebounds, with three assists and two blocks in the win.
