Thomson proved Friday night why it remains No. 1 in Class AA after winning the state title last year. The Bulldogs (7-1, 5-0, Region 4-AA) demonstrated their superiority over Putnam County, leaving Al Reaves Field in Eatonton with a 56-6 victory and the top spot in region standings.

Gatewood falls 20-14 in tight battle

A late touchdown in the final quarter preserved a perfect 8-0 record for the visiting Edmund Burke Academy (EBA) Spartans Friday night, as they beat the hometown Gatewood Gators 20-14 in a long, hard-fought match. The Gators fell to 6-2 with just two regular-season contests left on the schedule.

Bulldogs set to face Florida in Jacksonville

Coming off a bye week, No. 1 Georgia (7-0, 4-0 SEC) is set to face Florida this Saturday in Jacksonville. The Gators (5-2, 3-1) struggled earlier this season, but are on a two-game winning streak, with their most recent victory a come-from-behind 41-39 win over South Carolina two weeks ago.

Gatewood Middle School wins 4th-straight state shotgun championship

Gatewood’s middle school shotgun shooting team traveled to Forest City Gun Club in Savannah on Oct. 13, to compete in the GIAA Middle School Shotgun Invitational, where it won the state championship for the fourth consecutive year.
