Yarbrough: The elephant in the room? It’s our Okefenokee

Don’t look now, but there is an elephant in the room. Well, it’s not exactly a room. It is our state government. And it’s not an elephant, either. It is our Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, which they want to pretend isn’t there and wish we would, too. Fat chance.

Yarbrough: Observations for three great-grandsons

Dear Henry, Noah, and Samuel Knox Wansley: It looks like it’s your turn to receive some unsolicited advice from an old man who has been dispensing it since your daddy and his cousins were about your age. That has been a long time.

Yarbrough: Where 39,000 words went this year

As we end one year to begin a new one, it means it’s time for the annual report required of all card-carrying members of the National Association of Modest-Yet-Much-Beloved Columnists. Our motto?Sometimes in error, never in doubt.

Yarbrough: I wish I had been in Bethlehem

These words are dedicated to the memory of my late friend, Otis Brumby, Jr., publisher of the Marietta Daily Journal. He encouraged me to run this column each Christmas season. It is also dedicated to those who believe.I wish I had been there. In Bethlehem.

Yarbrough: Turning down all those dukedoms

Yarbrough: Let’s show our thanks first

I guess I need to check my calendar. I had assumed this was Thanksgiving Week, but according to the television ads, it’s Christmas already — or “the Holiday season,” for the politically correct. There is just one problem. I haven’t yet had the chance to express my gratitude or to tell you why.

Yarbrough: What’s in a word?

Simply put, there is nothing like a good whiff of petrichor to make a guy feel on top of the world. That depends, of course, on my computer’s teraflop since I’m WFH and not interested in ghost kitchens.

Yarbrough: PSC race about pocketbooks, not politics

I am getting mail crediting me for the defeat of the two incumbent Republican members of the Georgia Public Service Commission this past week. I am also getting mail blaming me for the defeat of the two incumbent members of the Georgia Public Service Commission this past week.
