Mike Collins is running to be a congressman for Georgia’s 10th district.
Collins is a pro-Trump republican from Jackson. He has been married for 33 years to Leighan Collins, has three children and three grandchildren. Collins is heavily involved in his community and a member of the Rocksprings Church. He has many values centered around God and the pro-Trump agenda.
“District 10 is just a good solid blue collar type of a district, just hardworking people that get up every day, go to work, want to raise their family and provide for them and go to church on Sunday,” said Collins. “And that’s who I am. I think you need somebody that really reflects what the district looks like.”
Collins is a business man with 31 years of experience owning and operating several small businesses. He currently has a trucking business with a fleet of 115 semitrucks. Both of Collins’ sons are also a part of the family business and help to run the day to day operations.
“There’s 435 people in Congress and there is not a single person in Congress that owns and operates a trucking company. I think today more than ever, people understand just how important supply chain issues are for this country,” said Collins. “I’m someone who understands that on a personal level and I actually work throughout the whole 10th district so I really do represent it.”
Collins believes firmly that business experience is invaluable when it comes to making decisions in Congress. Collins described himself as a career business person that is a part of the productive society that makes a payroll and pays taxes.
“I’ve gotten over the past 30 years of experience so I don’t need people to come into my office and try to explain to me how things may be happening to them. I guarantee I have probably felt something that happened to them from a regulation or a taxation standpoint at some point in my life,” said Collins. “I can take that experience from being a productive member of society, to serve in the country and that’s something I think, is just invaluable.”
Collins is set apart from his competitors by being both a part of District 10 and having experience as speaker in the Republican party. As the chairman of the Butts County Republican Party, Collins has strongly spoken on multiple items in multiple places, including Ohio and Washington D.C.
“The fact that I actually live in the district sets me apart from several people that are running in this race who don’t even live in the district and the fact that I have been working within the Republican ranks for a while pushing conservative values,” said Collins. “I’m unapologetically a pro-Trump America first agenda candidate. I was actually on the Trump bandwagon, way before the guy was even a nominee.”
Collins believes strongly in pro-life, the second amendment, standing up against cancel culture, creating more jobs and controlling immigration. Collins believes firmly in a limited federal government and wants to remove government power in situations that could be controlled locally, like education.
“I believe that those constitutional amendments, those Bill of Rights, are guaranteed to us by God not given to us by the government,” said Collins. “But it’s the government’s job to protect those rights and to look after them so that’s what we preach at home and that’s where my values are.”
Collins believes the biggest threat to this country is debt. If he is elected, Collins will work to pass more budget bills and plans to put a stop to the “immigration invasion” from outward countries, especially China. He wants to move manufacturing back into the United States. Collins also wishes to see a change in how bills are written. He wants to cut down on the page amount for each bill so they are more understandable to vote on.
“Just give us clean bills. We need a balanced budget. I could go on and on about things that could be handled better,” said Collins.
