I would just like to recommend the Georgia HEART program. This lets you receive a Georgia income tax credit, in an amount equal to the contribution to our local hospital. Although it does not give you any tax saving, it lets you direct your contribution directly to our local hospital.

I hope everyone didn’t get the sticker shock I got when I received my property tax assessment notices recently. My personal home and property increased by over 64% ($278,657 increase from last year).

I love Putnam County. I would love it even more if everyone receiving County services was helping to pay for them. This County has property owners who pay $0.00 in property taxes. This is crazy in my opinion. If it’s necessary, set a minimum property tax.

Sink hole closes intersection

A small sink hole that suddenly developed Friday evening, May 20, at the intersection of Sumter and Washington streets in Eatonton should be all repaired this week.
Eatonton Police Chief Howell Cardwell said the intersection was closed and traffic rerouted Friday evening and through the weekend.

The project to widen US 441/SR 24 to four lanes from the bypass around Eatonton to the Putnam-Morgan County line got a green light on April 4. Since then, E.R. Snell Contractor Inc. has begun the laborious task of clearing the right of way south of Rock Eagle 4-H Center.
