Residential, vehicle fires extinguished

Eatonton and Putnam County firefighters were busy last week battling four different fires on homes and a vehicle. Eatonton Fire Chief Jamey Williamson and Putnam County Fire Chief Thomas McClain said no one was injured in any of the incidents.

Death of Eatonton man under investigation

Authorities are investigating the death of an Eatonton man after his body was found in his pickup truck Tuesday night.Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills said 34-year-old Nicholas Justin Dempsey was found by deputies around 10 p.m. Tuesday, June 3.

‘Superman’ receives retirement recognition

Deputy Fire Chief Joey Davis’s last day on the job with the Eatonton Fire Department was March 31, leading to his 23 years and nine months of service being recognized prior to a city council meeting early last month. Davis received a plaque commemorating the occasion from Eatonton Mayor John Reid.
