All 1,100 sworn officers at the Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) will receive training from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to help identify and apprehend illegal immigrants considered a public safety risk, Gov. Brian Kemp announced Monday.

EPD intercepts possible prison contraband

Eatonton Police Department officers intercepted a package of contraband believed to be intended for drop off at a nearby prison before it reached its destination last week.A woman was arrested, and law enforcement officers are still seeking her husband, according to EPD Investigator Hargrove Jones.

SPLOST 10 resurrected in meeting of city, county

Mayor John Reid and Chairman Bill Sharp presided over a relatively rare joint meeting of the City of Eatonton Council and Putnam County Commission at 5 p.m. Monday to discuss reintroducing SPLOST 10 to pay for multiple municipal and countywide projects and expenses.

Property line dispute dominates commission meeting

Family, rescuers give insight, thoughts on search for missing boater

Fire destroys Eatonton mobile home; family safe

A fire claimed the home of an Eatonton man and his 18-year-old daughter Friday, March 7, Eatonton Fire Chief Jamey Williamson said. No one was injured.“But it destroyed the home,” Williamson added.The fire department received the call from Putnam County’s 911 dispatcher at 12:30 p.m.
