Norman Holle Jr, age 71, passed away September 28, 2025, at home, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born on December 9, 1953, in Milledgeville, Ga, to the late Norman “Hambone” Holle Sr. and Alice Carnes Holle. He began working in the family business at Rountree and Holle’s Grocery when he was 12 and then at his father’s service station, Holle’s Phillips 66. He remained in Eatonton until his job with Georgia Power took him to the Macon area.
He and his wife, Deborah, would later make their way back home to Eatonton to build their forever home. He worked for Georgia Power from 1977-2012.
During the years, Norman also worked as a volunteer firefighter and was a member of the Eatonton Planning and Zoning Committee. He believed in working hard for what you had and imparted his wisdom to his kids and grandkids from time to time. Some of his most memorable sayings were, “Don’t ever do anything half-assed” and “Make yourself more valuable by learning what others don’t know how to do.”
In his free time, Norman loved to ride motorcycles, take cruises with his wife and best friends, tend to his garden, including blueberries and honey bees, and fish in the local lakes.
Norman was preceded in death by his father, Norman Holle Sr.; his mother, Alice Carnes Holle; his stepmother, Dorothy Hodges Holle Stewart; his brother, Tommy Hodges; and his grandson, Josiah Shearouse. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Deborah Holle, and his daughter, Sandy (A.J.).
Stovall; son Norman “Buster” (Natalie) Holle III; his grandchildren, Maci Shearouse, Anna Shearouse (John Voss), Bethany Shearouse (Johnny Hatfield), Mary Kate Shearouse, Sarah Joy (Wasswa) Bwabye and Parker Holle; his greatgrandson, Tobias Bwabye; sisters, Sheila (Steve) Perry and Susan (Russell) Davis; brother, Wesley (Leigh Ann) Willis and many nieces and nephews.
The family received friends at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Eatonton, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m.
Rev. Craig Williamson officiated the service with music performed by Alanna Davis and Connie Covington. Pallbearers were Norman’s nephews, Chad Davis, Jeff Davis, Howard Hodges, Chan Layson, Vince Layson, and J.P. Payne. Afterwards, the graveside service was held at Eatonton Memorial Park (across from the National Guard Armory).
