James “Jim” C. Strother Jr.

James “Jim” C. Strother, Jr., a resident of White Plains, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at the age of 90, surrounded by his loving family.

Born October 25, 1935, in Atlanta, Georgia, he was the son of the late James C. Strother, Sr. and Alice Frances Waggoner Strother. Jim was a graduate of Southwest DeKalb High School and proudly served his country for four years in the United States Marine Corps.

On September 8, 1978, he married the former Cynthia Fetner, and together they shared nearly 48 years of devoted marriage. Jim was a successful entrepreneur and general contractor, owning and operating Jim Strother, Inc., a commercial construction business, until his retirement in 2008. He and his wife relocated from Decatur to White Plains in 1982.

A man of steadfast faith, Jim was a dedicated member of Liberty United Methodist Church as long as his health permitted. He found great joy in the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting, and always looked forward to trips with family and friends to Biloxi, Mississippi, and Las Vegas, Nevada.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Cynthia Strother of White Plains, Georgia; his children, Victor Strother and his wife Cheryl of Covington, Georgia; Joel Fuller and his wife Cindy of Covington, Georgia; Michael Strother of Mexico Beach; Jason Strother and his wife Laura of Utah; and Marty Fuller and his wife Mary Lou of Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

He was the proud grandfather of five — Nicholas Strother (Nicole), Megan Henley (Matt), Jeremy Fuller (Darby), Alora Paulos (Nic), and Wilson Fuller — and great-grandfather of five.

He is also survived by his sister, Bonnie Colagrossi and her husband Jim of Tampa, Florida, as well as many other relatives and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bob Strother.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at Liberty United Methodist Church, 3091 Liberty Church Rd., White Plains, Georgia 30678, on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 2:30 p.m., with Pastor Chris Huskins officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. prior to the service.
