Police investigate Eatonton shooting

A barrage of bullets fired at a residence in Eatonton last weekend has authorities searching for the shooters.

Eatonton Police Chief Howell Cardwell said he and officers responded to a 911 call about gunshots around 9:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29 on the 100 block of Hudson Road. No one was injured in the shooting, but officers located 13 shell casings in the carport and on the driveway and road in front of the residence, he said. The casings were from .40-caliber and 9mm handguns.

The shooting was not a random act, Cardwell said.

The two shooters were dropped off by a driver in a vehicle, and they walked past the residence and began shooting at a person who was under the carport. Two vehicles were damaged by the bullets.

On Tuesday, Cardwell said he had one person of interest he was looking for. He asked that anyone with information on the incident please call the Eatonton Police Department at 706-485-3551 or Chief Cardwell at 478-288-3386.
