Body

Glenn was born in Evanston, Illinois to Dean and Ommye Clapp. He lived in Highland Park, IL until he was 10 years old, when his family moved to Glen Ridge, NJ. After graduating high school, Glenn attended Waynesburg University in SW Pennsylvania for a while. After deciding he wanted to work in construction, he withdrew from college. After living in what Glenn referred to as “the wrong part of the country”, he settled in Eatonton. Glenn had visited family on his mother’s side in Eatonton while growing up and knew he wanted to make his home here. He always said he was “Yankee by birth, Southerner by the grace of God.”

Glenn went back to college, while working construction, and graduated from UGA in 1982. After working commercial construction, Glenn started his own construction company. He did this until he became unable to work due to health issues. He still continued to do small jobs for what he called “his sweet widow ladies”.

Glen began his fight against multiple cancers in 2008 and he fought right up until the end. When he knew the end was near, he said he was ready to go. He’d had a good life, felt blessed that he had a loving wife, 3 sons, 3 grandchildren, great friends, and a wonderful extended family on his wife’s side. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents Dean and Ommye (Rice) Clapp, his brother Daniel Clapp, and his sister Ommey “Candy” Clapp. He leaves behind his wife of 27 years Lynn Carnes Clapp, a sister Karen “Kacey” Buroojy (and husband Tom), sons Geoffrey (and wife Kara), Sean (and wife Katie) and bonus son Brian (and Jessica) Gillman, one grandson Arlo and 2 grand daughters Leto and James, as well as many nieces and nephews

In Lieu of flowers, Glenn requested that anyone wishing to could make donations to the Cancer Foundation of Northeast Georgia, P.O. Box 49309, Athens, GA 30604-9309 or online at www.cfnega.org, or to a charity of their choice.

For those of you who knew Glenn, you know he was a little unconventional. He always loved to cook and eat, but for the past few years he wasn’t able to do either. For this reason, he requested a casual send off with a covered dish meal to celebrate his life. Visitation will be held 11:00 Am to 12:00 PM Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Grace Baptist Church, 163 Greensboro

Rd, Eatonton. A short Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 PM followed by a covered dish meal. For family and friends wishing to honor Glenn by sharing this meal, please bring your favorite dish. (someone will take it to the fellowship hall during the visitation)
