Robert Miller

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Charles Miller, who left us on April 13, 2025, at the age of 90.

Bob was a beloved husband, father, and papa, who will be remembered for his kindness and endearing love of family and community.

Born on May 20, 1934, in Elko, Nevada, his family moved to Pendleton, Oregon, when Bob was very young. He grew up and attended Willamette University in Oregon on basketball and baseball scholarships. While serving in the United States Air Force, Bob acquired a master’s degree in business.

He retired as a Lt. Col after 23 years of service. He and his wife, Mary, moved to Gilroy, California, where Bob was an active part of the community, serving as President of both the Chamber of Commerce and the Gilroy Garlic Festival. His dance card was always full at the festival’s annual barn dance! Bob retired to play golf at Reynolds Lake Oconee in Georgia, where he also shared his love of gourmet cooking with family and friends.

Bob is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Miller, their children: Julie Miller of Portland, Oregon, Kim Solis of Twain Harte, Susan Young & husband Mark of El Dorado Hills, Robin Pantle & husband Tim of Fair Oaks, California. Paula Church & husband Phil of Savannah, Georgia, Julie Kennedy & partner Stefan Halama of Coxs Creek, Holly Hoffman and husband Craig of Willisburg, Kentucky. Terry Deaton and his wife Meg of Jonesville, Virginia.

There are 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, too numerous to name here, but loved nonetheless.

The family would appreciate any remembrance of Bob being made in his name as a donation for Alzheimer’s research, Alzheimer’s & Dementia Research | Alzheimer’s Association. Family and friends are asked to join in a celebration of Bob’s life on Sunday, May 18th (two days prior to his 91st birthday), at Linger Longer Pavilion, Reynolds Lake Oconee.

Bob’s presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Rest in peace, Papa.
