Marshall demands consistency from War Eagles

The Putnam County boys basketball team continues to stack wins, but head coach Patrick Marshall made it clear last week that the War Eagles aren’t meeting their own standard.Putnam County entered the week ranked in SandySpiel.com’s Class A Division I top 10 at 18-6 overall and 7-1 in region play.

Putnam girls resume action after long break

The Putnam County girls basketball team returned to the court on Jan. 23 after not playing for two weeks.The top-ranked Lady War Eagles faced Utopian Academy at home in Eatonton and easily won 75–1, improving their overall record to 14–1 and 3-0 in region play.

Young Gatewood squad shows growth

This season has been one of transition for the Gatewood boys basketball team, but despite heavy roster turnover, the program is showing steady improvement and promising signs for the future.

Ice Dawgs fall twice to Niagara University

The University of Georgia Ice Dawgs gave up a goal with just 23 seconds left in regulation time Saturday night to suffer a 3-2 loss in Athens at the hands of the Niagara University Purple Eagles.

Recruiting heats up for Putnam County football

College football recruiting is starting to pick back up at Putnam County High School. Coaches are once more hitting the road after spending the early part of the offseason navigating the NCAA transfer portal.

Lady Gators prepare for late-season surge

With the final stretch of the regular season coming, the Gatewood girls basketball team appears to be finding its stride at exactly the right moment.The Lady Gators entered this week with a 15-4 overall record and a 4-2 mark in GIAA Region 2-AA play.

Healthy War Eagles have dominant week

The Putnam County boys basketball team is getting its groove back at the right time of the season.After battling injuries throughout the second half of the year, the War Eagles were finally back to full strength in Week 11 of the regular season — and the results were immediate.

War Eagles look to ‘get their groove back’

The Putnam County boys basketball team has been facing tough times lately. Injuries have hit the War Eagles hard, with several players missing games early in the new year, resulting in key losses. Entering this week, they’re 3-3 since 2026 began with a 13-6 overall record.

Ice Dawgs earn split results at Savannah Classic

UGA rebounded from an opening-game loss Friday night at the 27th annual Savannah Hockey Classic with an 8–1 win over Florida State on Saturday at Enmarket Arena, near downtown Savannah.
