Outdoors: Summertime heat

How many of you are sitting there saying, “Well, summer is over, and football is about to start.” Be honest. You are probably the same ones excited about pumpkin spice lattes and wearing Ug boots. Well, I hate to tell you this, but a Georgia summer doesn’t ever really end. It just has breaks.

Outdoors: Gas station food and summertime eating

Recently, I was running from our shop to the government center in Eatonton and I was hungry. Well, it being past 12:30 and me not having had breakfast that morning I was getting towards the hangry stage of dangerous. Trust me. Big boys like me ain’t fun to be around when we enter that phase.

Outdoors: Fishing with Henry Cowen

You all know I have been booking and using guides most of my life. Well, I have recently had to change my opinion on not fishing with normal folks. Now don’t get me wrong. I still firmly believe the more a whacked-out guide fishes the better he is, but there are exceptions to the rule.

Outdoors: Summertime fishing is here

I realize we have been discussing wake boating, manners, food, and many other things lately but no fishing reports and no fishing content relating to Lake Country. Well, let’s fix that today! Fishing is still excellent in the lake country!

Outdoors: Manners matter

Recently, the Georgia Legislature and DNR got together, and I am sure thought this through clearly, concisely, and with great patience. However, it is probably like most things, a swing, and a miss. What am I talking about? The new 200-foot law for wake boats. House Bill 121 states: 1.

Pressley: Dockside at the lake

An entertaining thing to do is just sit by the dock on a Friday afternoon. Last Friday, I was out at the Boat House on Lake Oconee. You know the place. In the old days, it was a catfish joint and now it’s got storage and gas, right off the backside of Harbor Club.

Pressley: Summertime in the Peach State

Well, it was slow starting, we had a cool spring, a lot of rain, and a lot of wind but it is now summertime. I’m a little sunburnt already. I’m tired from late nights on the lakes and I’m a little sore from wakes. So yes, it’s summer.

Pressley: A new wave of lake activity

Question: How many of you have seen the big boats throwing a big wave filled with people? Yep. I thought so. You are probably mumbling unkind things under your breath right now. Well, let me tell you something. Wake boats and wake surfing aren’t going anywhere anytime soon except up! Why?

Pressley: Spot Choker – the ultimate underspin

A few weeks ago, I told you guys about catching hybrids and stripers on Sinclair with Spot Choker underpins, Pulse jigs, and Cast Prodigy baits. Well, Mr. Spot Choker himself, Rob Williams, reached out to me and we started talking about getting together to fish.
