The resurrection of Jimmy Davis Park received a very public show of support Saturday morning as more than 200 local residents marched the mile from the park to a rally on the Putnam County Courthouse lawn in downtown Eatonton.

A former Eatonton resident reportedly drove back to her previous town and stole approximately $20,000 worth of equipment. A week later she was back again, being booked into Putnam County jail.

A “week at the beach” may have long been a way of life in coastal communities, but the downside to some party weekends at Putnam’s lakefront properties has apparently risen rather quickly. “Too many people, too much noise, too many cars, up too late,” is the way one homeowner put it.

Jimmy Davis Park vandalized twice over weekend

A “Save Jimmy Davis Park” rally and social event were held Saturday. Ironically, the park was vandalized the day before and again the day after the events, according to authorities.

Milledgeville man arrested in Putnam man’s murder

A Putnam County man was found dead in Milledgeville Saturday morning, and the alleged killer was arrested Monday afternoon, according to authorities. The victim was identified as Joshua Corey Jones, 43, of Thomas Drive, which is on the shores of Lake Sinclair in southern Putnam County.

Remembering the PEX Theater

As Eatonton residents await the second “grand opening” of the beloved PEX Theater in downtown Eatonton, the Old School History Museum decided to visit Susan Peck Park and hear stories of the theater that only she would know. Susan is the granddaughter of John Peck Jr.

Gang members face additional charges

Two Milledgeville teens who were arrested in connection with an early morning shooting at the Shell Food Mart in Eatonton are now facing more charges, including some for firing gunshots inside a residence where two toddlers were at the time. No one was injured in the incident.

UGA sports history on display at library

In a statewide traveling program initiated by University of Georgia (UGA) Athletics History Specialist and collection archivist Jason Hasty in 2016, several unique reminders of the school’s sporting success were on display last Friday at the Eatonton-Putnam County Public Library.

Championship bicycle racing debuts in Eatonton

During the Dairy Festival weekend in Eatonton (June 3-4), the Georgia State Championship Cycling Festival also came to town. It was especially exciting for the family of Dylan Lindsey who competed in both the criterium race and the road race.
