Investigator Clay Bryant will be Georgia Writers Museum’s Crime & Wine presenter of his new book, The Cold Case Murder of Fred Wilkerson, beginning at 7 p.m. June 25, with doors open a half hour earlier. Previous Crime & Wine events focused on unsolved cold cases the audience tries to solve.

PCCSS music program receives national recognition

For the seventh-consecutive year, the Putnam County Charter School System (PCCSS) has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education.

In a two-hour work session last Friday, the Putnam County Board of Commissioners and County Attorney Adam Nelson winnowed down some of the options for a new short-term rentals ordinance, although final approval, and even a draft ordinance, are still off in the future.

UPDATED: Man shot, killed at gas station in Eatonton, suspect found

An Eatonton man was shot at the Shell Food Mart Sunday afternoon and later died at the hospitals, authorities say. The alleged shooter was in custody approximately 24 hours later. Putnam County Coroner Hollis Harrison identified the victim as Frederick Scott Jr., 32, of Chase Circle, Eatonton.
