The rain may have been drizzling during Putnam County’s first-round playoff game against Toombs County last Friday, but that didn’t stop the War Eagles from pouring it on the Bulldogs from the first kick.

VOLLEYBALL: Putnam County reaches state playoffs

The 2022 season came to an end on Oct. 19, for Putnam County High School’s girls’ volleyball team, but despite dropping three straight sets in the opening round of GHSA Class 2A playoffs to Savannah Arts Academy, it remained a groundbreaking campaign for the Lady Eagles.

Bulldogs clinch SEC East with W over Miss State

Top-ranked Georgia checked off another box Saturday on its list of goals this season: clinch the SEC East. The Bulldogs traveled to Starkville to take on Mississippi State and came away with a 45-19 win.

Bulldogs prepare for second consecutive road game

After traveling to Starkville to defeat Mississippi State 45-19 last Saturday, the Georgia Bulldogs (10-0, 7-0) will have to head back on the road to take on the Kentucky Wildcats (6-4, 3-4) this weekend.

BASKETBALL: Keiser, Gators hope for success again in 2022-23

The Gatewood boys’ basketball program enjoyed a lot of success last season under head coach Don Keiser. The Gators went 23-4 overall and made a deep playoff run before losing to Furtah Prep in the Elite Eight. Keiser hopes to bank off last year’s promise.

FOOTBALL: War Eagles run all over Washington County

Putnam County seniors Jalon Kilgore and Tamarion Peters rushed for over 300 yards and three TDs in a 26-13 win over Washington County during a Thursday night tilt. The game was originally scheduled for Friday, but a referee shortage in the GHSA moved it up a day.

FOOTBALL: Brentwood beats Gatewood in regular season finale

Gatewood ended its regular season on a down note on Nov. 4, as Brentwood’s War Eagles doubled up on them 42-21 in Sandersville. Still, head coach Jeff Ratliff is not ready to give up on his Gators; not with playoffs set to start Nov.
